EECE 7398: Special Topics:
Deep Learning and Edge Computing in Wireless Networks
Instructor:
Francesco Restuccia, Ph.D.
Course Meeting Time and Location:
Tuesdays and Fridays 1:35 PM - 3:15 PM, Roux Institute, Room 137
The course will be broadcast through NU Flex for students at other NU campuses.
Course Description:
This course addresses the state of the art in deep learning in the context of edge-assisted wireless systems such as Wi-Fi, 5G/6G, and Internet of Things (IoT) networks. The course will include in-class lectures to cover background notions on deep learning, edge computing and wireless networks, as well as principles of effective communication of research content. Next, the students will learn the cutting-edge deep learning techniques currently used to improve the performance of wireless networks at all levels of the protocol stack. Finally, the course will cover how wireless networks can be optimized to support and improve the latency and energy performance of state-of-the-art deep learning algorithms computed at the edge for object detection, image segmentation and activity classification, among others.
